Georgetown – Investigations are persevering with into Saturday’s tried jail break that resulted within the deaths of two inmates and accidents to 5 others.
The riot occurred after Minister of Home Affairs Robeson Benn and Health Minister Dr Frank Anthony had been compelled to exit the Lusignan Prison on the East Coast of Demerara on Saturday afternoon after some prisoners grew to become hostile and threw missiles.

The lifeless prisoners have been recognized as 51-year-old Earl Graham and 21-year-old Winston Herbert.
In an announcement, the Guyana Prison Service (GPS) mentioned that Graham was serving a three-month jail time period for malicious wounding, assault and resisting arrest whereas Herbert was in custody for rape.
The GPS mentioned that the 5 different inmates are in a secure situation on the Georgetown Public Hospital and on the Lusignan Prison.
According to the assertion, the prisoners, who had refused to have breakfast on Saturday, refused to have interaction the directors and demanded to see the Minister of Home Affairs.

“After the officers left the main compound, the situation rapidly deteriorated into mass disorder with inmates rushing the main gate in a bid to break same.”
